Haberl, W. (1995): Zum Beutespektrum des Mäusebussards, Buteo buteo (Accipitridae), im Waldviertel (Niederösterreich). (Contribution to the prey analysis of the buzzard, Buteo buteo (Accipitridae, Aves), in the Waldviertel region (Lower Austria). Egretta 38 (2): 124-129.

Buzzard pellets collected in Schönbach mainly contained Microtus arvalis (61,4%) and Microtus agrestis (15,3%). Clethrionomys glareolus, Arvicola terrestris, Apodemus sylvaticus and Sciurus vulgaris comprised only 5,4% of the prey. Insectivora (8,4%) were represented by Sorex araneus, Sorex minutus, Neomys fodiens, Neomys anomalus and Talpa europaea. The absence of Crocidura suaveolens is put down to the scarcety of this species in the region and to its prevailing nocturnal activity. Lacerta vivipara (Squamata, Reptilia) can be seen as a substantial prey item in the study area (8,4%).
